Post MW2

After getting the platinum for MW2 my obsession really kicked in.  I ended up going to blockbuster and renting Terminator Salvation and Hanna Montana The Movie (which I told the guy at the counter was to keep my niece entertained while she was visiting for the weekend) (I don't actually have a niece).

By the end of the weekend I had the platinum trophies for both these games, and was looking for my next fix.  I decided to see what cheap games I could find on eBay.  I ended up purchasing Quantum of Solace, Far Cry 2 and Mercenaries 2.  Far Cry 2 and Mercenaries 2 were sold again almost as soon as I got them through the mail, however I did hang onto Quantum of Solace.

I was done with the single player story rather quickly, however the online multiplayer part required me to 100,000 credits, which took me much longer to do than expected, as there is seldom a lot of people online, and also I got bored of the online  game play rather quickly.

After that came a summer in London where I ended up borrowing games from my boss and another friend.  By the end of the summer I had added the Assassins Creed 2 and Heavy Rain platinums to my list.

Once I got back from the summer break I signed up to LoveFilm and started renting any games that seemed to have an easily achievable platinum trophy.

My current trophy count is: 852 Bronze trophies, 249 Silver trophies, 78 Gold trophies, and 15 of the obsession fuelling platinum trophies.

The games I am currently working my way through are Prison Break, and Shrek Forever After.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2

After Red Dead Redemption, I decided it was time to try and get all the trophies for MW2.  I had already played the single player campaign all the way through, so I had all the story related trophies.  I now needed to complete the campaign again on veteran, collect all the Intel, collect 69 stars in special ops and do all the miscellaneous trophies.  The veteran campaign was not too hard and took me about two days to do.  I then replayed the game again on the easiest setting just to get all the Intel and miscellaneous trophies.  All that was left for me to do was get the 69 stars on special ops.

This is the part that took me the longest time, with some of the ops being really difficult and annoying to complete, obviously for the two player ones I needed the help of a friend.  After a few days of playing he finally managed to get into the FPS game style, and so I decided to use his help by doing some of the really difficult ops as two players rather than alone, getting him to follow behind me and revive me in case something went wrong.

After about two weeks of playing and trying the special ops, I finally managed to get my first platinum trophy.

Red Dead Redemption

I got this game for christmas a few years back.  I had done about 50% of the storyline, without really aiming for any of the trophies.  Then my obsession with trophies kicked in and I decided that this game was going to be one of the first ones I would try to get all the trophies for.  So I started going out of my way to accomplish the things that were needed for the trophies.
There were a few that took some real effort, such as the unnatural selection trophy, which requires you to kill every animal species in the game.  Now normally I would not do this if I was just playing through the game like a normal person, but I was no longer a normal person, I was now a trophy collector, and that meant hours of riding around a rather substantial map, killing everything that moved, just in case it was one of the animals I was missing.  This was also before the days that I realised you could find lists and locations for almost every game ever, online.

To this day I still do not have the platinum trophy for this game, and am just missing the three online trophies: Posse Up!, The Quick and Everyone Else..., how the West Was Won.  I'm not sure why I haven't done them yet, I think I'm probably just to lazy to grind till level 50 in the multiplayer, although I think I might try it again if there is ever a double or triple XP weekend for the game.

The start of my hunt

Recently I got into a bit of a competition with a friend of mine to see who could get the most trophies on the PS3.  I have beaten him, but have in the process become obsessed with getting as many as I can, no matter what.  So I recently tried to look online for a list of all the easiest games to get trophies for and have been renting the games through lovefilm for the sole purpose of getting the trophies.

I've always wanted to start a blog, but could never find a subject that I was interested enough in, to actually make an effort to write about... until now.
